M
achine learning is a multidisciplinary field of research focusing on the mathematical foundations and practical applications of systems that learn, reason and act. Machine learning underpins many modern technologies, such as speech recognition, robotics, internet search, bioinformatics, and more generally the analysis and modelling of large complex data. Machine learning makes extensive use of computational and statistical methods, and takes inspiration from biological learning systems.
The activity of the machine learning groups cover the areas of machine learning, computational modelling and statistics and their applications in data mining, simulation and time series prediction.
If you are interested in machine learning but a newbie, you may check this online course. It is pretty useful. https://class.coursera.org/ml/lecture/index
